Our mission is to connect passionate enthusiasts with the objects that tell their stories. As Europe’s fastest growing online auction platform, we help over 10 million people discover new treasures every month. This means we are continually growing and always on the lookout for new talent! 

Born and raised in The Netherlands, we started in 2008 and have since grown to over 750 Catawikians, working across 7 international offices, while maintaining our start-up mentality every step of the way. In December 2020 we received a new €150m investment round led by Permira and are excited to be growing our team and business further across the world.

What you will do

The Category Lead is responsible for the coordination of daily operations concerning the auctions within the Category. In addition, the Category Lead works closely with the category manager in setting and executing the category strategy.


The Category Lead ensures that the team of Experts work in the most efficient, scalable and consistent way possible and to achieve the targets of this category. You will lead a best-in-class and well functioning international team of engaged Experts by excelling in management skills that contribute to the performance of the team. 

The category Lead will build with the category manager the category strategy and will have close cooperation with Sales, Marketing, CS and Development/Product in order to develop an ambitious auction planning that is reflective of Catawiki’s overall value proposition.


The Category Lead reports to the Category Manager and manages an international team of experts that are working remotely. Alignment and collaboration are crucial in order to develop successful and sustainable growth for the category. With support from the Category Manager you lead commercial and business efforts to expand our seller base across our key markets, and implement growth plans for our existing seller base.


Entertainment is a SubCategory of Pop Culture department which includes following auctions: US Comics, Animation, Disney, Music Memorabilia, Lego, Movie, NFT etc…


Cards&Games is a SubCategory of Pop Culture department which includes following auctions: Pokemon Cards, Magic Cards, VideoGame, Retrogaming, E-Sport, US, Panini cards, Sport cards, NFT  etc…

Tasks and responsibilities

Coordinate Auctions

  • Day to day coordination of the auctions: managing auction timelines, screening lot distribution across the team
  • Run the weekly Expert Team Meeting
  • Weekly meetings with Category Manager
  • Have regular 1:1’s to manage, train, motivate, guide and coach Expert team
  • Execute auction planning and monitor quality guidelines
  • Ensure effective resource planning


Lead Growth

  • Build and implement the category strategy with Category Manager
  • Collaborate with Sales Manager to define a strong sales strategy to increase and develop our sellers base 
  • Collaborate with marketing, partnership and events to develop our audience and increase demand
  • Visits the Amsterdam HQ on a regular base
  • Displays and promotes company culture and values

Who you are

If you want to become our new Category Lead - Entertainment, Cards & Games you have:

  • Fluent English
  • Strong connections with Entertainment, Cards & Games Industry, which you can leverage
  • +5 years of experience in Sales/Marketing
  • Experience in Tech, E-Commerce company
  • Quick Thinker :
    You will have to develop a deep understanding of the commercial models and strategies that underpin the business.
  • Strategic thinker :
    You are going to build the strategy of the category
  • Commercial Skills:
    You have a commercial mindset and you are able to build sales strategy guarating a strong ROI for Catawiki
  • Marketing Skills :
    You have marketing knowledge and are  able to visualize your target     
  • Management Skills:
    You already lead project or a team with different profiles
  • Open Minded and curious 
  • Demonstrable knowledge of and experience with computers and computer programs.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.

Where you'll be

The role is based in remotely with a work from home arrangement. You will be part of the Collectables department and will be working for our European markets.

Working and hiring remotely

When it is safe to do so, Catawiki will implement a hybrid work policy where employees in the Netherlands will work from the office 1-2 times per week and from home for the rest.

Most of our Sales and Expert positions for local markets are 100% remote, which means that you will be working from home in the country you are based.
