In recent years, Catawiki has grown rapidly by expanding into multiple categories and countries. Current GMV is €500M+ (currently growing at 10%) with a potential to be a 1B+ business in the next 3 years. You will drive the strategy & execution for a crucial function in the business - Marketing. The team consists of c.50 people spread across Performance (Acquisition) Marketing, CRM, SEO, Category Marketing., Brand, Communications & PR, etc
The primary goals are customer acquisition and retention with healthy LTV to CAC ratios. One of the enablers to getting this done is to build a strong Catawiki brand, which is sharply targeted with a clear/differentiated value prop. We have also been on the journey to build a robust CRM engine. We are split across 4 business verticals - Art, Interiors, Collectibles, and Luxury.
Each has different marketing challenges and opportunities. However, at the same time, there is a need to build a strong company level identity and clear value prop that customers can relate to. This role reports into the CEO and is an integral part of the company’s Management Team. The other key stakeholders are the CXOs, Heads of Product, CX and VPs in the Extended Management team.
1. A passionate marketeer obsessed with customers
Delighting our customers is core to us and a key value within the company. We need someone who can understand our customers, develop a clear value prop for each segment, ensure that we are delivering on it across all touchpoints and then communicate it clearly. The marketing team has 4 key functions - Brand Marketing (incl Content creation), Performance and Category Marketing,, CRM and Communications. You have a deep expertise in 2 or more of them, along with a strong understanding of the others.
2. Operationally savvy
You have a hands-on roll up your sleeves work ethic and do not shy away from getting your hands dirty. You obsess with operational excellence - crafting plans in detail and stitching all loose ends together to ensure everyone is clear on their individual piece but also on how it all connects and fits together. You have a keen eye for numbers and run almost every activity with a clear numeric KPI attached to it. You gather most of your insights from the data and are able to combine it with qualitative insights to make effective business decisions.
3. People Leader
Demonstrated ability to attract, develop and retain a strong team of marketing specialists and agencies. Build a strong connection for these teams with the commercial, product, technology and central functions in the company. Be a visible leader internally and externally. Actively build networks to source high-quality talent and enhance Catawiki’s employer brand.
4. Business Leader
You have a strong business acumen with proven experience of scaling up in a in a fast-paced tech environment, plus an ability to connect the economic drivers of the business / market to the customer needs, coupled with the ability to effectively communicate with simplicity (e.g. with Board of Directors) or become detailed where needed (e.g. within or across teams).
1. Takes ownership to drive impact
The ability to do things quickly and effectively is key. You should be able to roll up sleeves and get things moving. Communicating plans and progress to all stakeholders will be important, especially around customer insights, product roadmap, technology roadmap and the product development process.
2. Open to Learning and Stay Humble
Be prepared to use your expertise and experience but also be open to feedback, ways to improve and be ready to embrace some failures - as long as you own them, taking risks is encouraged and continuously learning from such failures and evolving is a sign of success.

Our vibrant offices in Amsterdam, Paris and Lisbon are designed to inspire and connect. Most Catawikians are within commuting distance of one of our offices and enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work model. This means we typically ask you to be in the office 2 out of 5 days, roughly 40% of your working time, to collaborate and connect with your colleagues. Of course, if the job description specifies that the role is 100% remote—such as for certain expert or sales positions—then that arrangement will apply.
