Our Sales Teams

Working in a distributed team across Europe brings it own challenges, but our sales team take group spirit and team building seriously. In the absence of the quarterly sales meeting in Amsterdam, they meet, brainstorm and hold virtual social activities. 

Regularly catching up as a team and on an individual basis to tackle challenging leads or to align on the overall sales strategy. Besides the immediate team, they will share and approach leads with our Experts and work on managing large accounts with our Customer Experience team.

So...What’s the job? 

You will manage a Sales team for one of our operational verticals within Catawiki, made of +/- 7 direct reports

  • The Sales team is a group of experienced key account managers with various backgrounds in luxury sales, that share a great passion for the categories they are taking care of.
  • The Sales team is mainly responsible for generating both new business opportunities and growing existing businesses. They are interacting with current and prospective customers. The Sales team interacts mainly remotely (email, phone) and, on ad-hoc basis, thru face to face meetings. 
  • You will be responsible for closely monitoring our sales KPIs and achieving our team goals. You will analyse existing work processes and implement improvements to optimise the overall sales results. You detect business opportunities and are able to quickly and effectively adapt to notable changes.  
  • You will be responsible for monitoring the Sales relationships with our Top 100 Sellers and will manage a limited set of Top Sellers accounts directly. Through the Sales team, you will be responsible for growing and educating the whole portfolio of partners, ensuring compliance with the best-in-class standards   

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Develop strategic plans for the account management and business development teams to execute across varying geographies
  • Work closely with the Sales Director and Vice President in translating the annual budget into quarterly targets and goals for the AM team
  • Closely monitor competitors and analyse up and coming opportunities
  • Train, motivate, guide and coach Account Managers and Key Account Managers
  • Keep the team informed on new Products and Services at Catawiki
  • Delegate Tasks & Projects and set deadlines
  • Prepare and communicate Sales reports 
  • Achieve and surpass quarterly targets and goals, for the team.
  • Conduct (weekly) team meetings to increase individual and team success;
  • Optimise existing work processes
  • Coordinate the efforts with the other departments (Experts, Customer Experience, Marketing and Product) to improve the ongoing team success;
  • Execute job interviews, performance appraisals and guide career development of the Account Managers
  • Lead the daily operations of the Sales team (e.g. resource planning, quality assurance)

What are we looking for?

  • International Sales team lead experience - minimum 5 years
  • Bachelor's degree in the commercial, marketing, business or communications field;
  • Preferred luxury industry experience
  • Analytical and data-driven
  • Proactive and strategic: must be able to challenge the status quo, suggest new processes, drive and adapt to change, take initiatives and think out of the box
  • Good relationship builder: must be able to build trust externally (Sellers) and internally (other Catawiki departments), be solution-oriented, show understanding, provide solutions
  • Automated sales software (hubspot) experience 
  • Fluency in English and at least one other language;
  • Able to quickly establish credibility and report the results to the management team.
  • Ability to collaborate with various departments to achieve team goals
  • Ability to deal with complex problems internally and externally affecting seller performance
  • Online platform or e-Commerce international experience - Preferred

Our offices and new way of working

We’ve embraced an activity-based way of working, meaning our team can choose how they split their work week between home and the office, in line with our remote framework and guidelines. In locations where we have physical offices, most employees enjoy two days at the office to connect and collaborate with each other.

Our experts and sales staff in local markets work 100% remotely – in most cases from home. Some key positions are hired remotely, while we also offer relocation services for colleagues needing to be closer to the office.
