Catawiki is the data controller for all Personal Data we process. That means that we take the decisions about how and why your Personal Data is processed. It also means that any question you may have about how your Personal Data is processed can be raised with us, even if this is done by one of our Third Party Service Providers.
If you apply for a position at Catawiki, you will share your Personal Data with us. In any case, we ask you to provide a copy of your curriculum vitae, which would contain your name and address, as well as your education and job history. It may also include other data types, such as your date of birth, gender, a picture and other things you wish to share with us. Furthermore, we ask you for your motivation. You may also provide us with additional documents, for example references, if you choose to do so.
When you apply for a position at Catawiki, you do so voluntarily. That means you give us your permission, legally also known as your consent, to process your Personal Data as part of our recruitment process. Catawiki will use this information to assess your suitability for the position you are applying for, or any other position we may (soon) have available.
From time to time, we may want to ask you some additional questions to better understand who is applying for a role at Catawiki and how we can improve our recruitment process. If we do so, you will see these additional questions show up on the application form on the careers website. Responding to these questions is voluntary. We will process them separately from your job application, and only in an aggregate manner, and the answers to these questions will not influence your chances of being invited for a job interview.
Sometimes, you don’t know yet you may want to work at Catawiki. Whenever we have an open position, our recruiters will also start looking for the right candidate in their own network and using social media, especially LinkedIn. This means we may take a look at our LinkedIn profile or other social media, and reach out to you. If we do so, we consider that to be our legitimate interest to find the right candidate for the job. If you don’t wish to be contacted by us again, feel free to let us know.
We also work on a regular basis with professional recruitment agencies. If they propose you for a position at Catawiki, they will have collected and processed your Personal Data in accordance with their own data protection policies and notice. From the moment your Personal Data are transmitted to Catawiki, this notice will apply to the further processing of your Personal Data. In principle, it is up to the professional recruitment agencies to inform you your Personal Data will be shared with Catawiki.
When you visit our careers website, we will collect some technical information. This includes your IP address, information about the device you use, access times, etc. Once you have provided us your consent, we also collect electronic identification data from your browser or device by making use of cookies (small text files your computer sends each time you visit our Online Marketplace) and similar technologies on our Online Marketplace. This data will include a cookie ID, your browsing behaviour on our careers website, as well as mobile device identifiers (e.g. IDFA or GAID). Please read our Cookie Policy for more information on how we use cookies and other tracking technologies.
Any Personal Data you share with us during the recruitment process, will be used for a variety of purposes. These include:
Catawiki uses multiple Third Party Service Providers to help us process your Personal Data. However, our Third Party Service Providers are not all located in the Netherlands, which means your Personal Data is likely to end up in other countries, including outside of the European Economic Area. We consider it our responsibility to ensure your Personal Data remains protected as it would be in the Netherlands, also when it is processed in other countries. We respect the rules set out by the GDPR, local data protection rules and applicable guidance from supervisory authorities.

If you have questions about the specific Personal Data about you that we process or retain, and your rights regarding that personal information, our data protection team is also happy to provide you with more detail. Depending on the nature of your request, we may ask you for information to authenticate you, before we can provide a full response to your request.
