About the role and team

Catawiki is building one of the most dynamic online destinations for exceptional objects. Our Galleries & Art Dealers Market (aka Secondary Market) division is at the heart of this ambition. We are seeking a proven category leader with strong management, commercial, and analytical skills to drive this category forward.

In this role, you’ll oversee a diverse international team of experts, ensuring their knowledge and passion for art translate into scalable, data-driven, and high-quality offerings. Your mission is to design and execute a category strategy that delivers measurable growth, grounded in commercial insight, operational excellence, and strong cross-functional collaboration. You will work with Sales, Marketing, Product, and Technology to drive performance, strengthen seller relationships, enhance user experience, while contributing to company-wide initiatives and empowering teams to deliver impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and evolve category strategy: Define and execute the Secondary Market strategy in line with Catawiki’s vision and business objectives, ensuring measurable commercial impact.
  • Drive performance through data: Monitor and interpret key metrics (GMV, conversion, lot quality, buyer engagement) and translate insights into clear, actionable improvements across pricing, selection, and operations.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team: Provide clarity, coaching, and accountability to empower experts to deliver at scale and achieve measurable outcomes.
  • Maximise seller relationships and growth: Partner with Sales to acquire, negotiate with, and retain high-potential sellers, ensuring a consistent flow of quality supply and strong commercial relationships.
  • Manage business performance: Contribute to category-level P&L, balancing short-term efficiency with long-term strategic growth.

Who You Are

  • Proven Leader: Significant management experience with a track record of building accountable, high-performing teams.
  • Commercially Savvy: Strong business acumen with experience in P&L management, seller negotiation, and understanding customer needs.
  • Data-Literate: highly skilled at interpreting metrics and turning them into insights that steer strategy and execution.
  • Clear Communicator & Influencer: Skilled at engaging senior stakeholders and partners and aligning cross-functional teams in a matrix environment.
  • Affinity for Art: Interested in the art world and passionate about its cultural value, without needing to be an art-market expert.
  • Engage internationally: You are comfortable and flexible to travel across Europe as required to connect with sellers, partners, and colleagues to strengthen Catawiki’s presence and network.

Where You’ll Be

The role is preferably based in the Netherlands, Portugal, or France and supports relocation. Remote work within Europe may be considered, although this is less desirable.
