About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Fashion Expert, specialising in Luxury Pre-Owned and Brand Fashion, to support our growing team of experts driving Catawiki’s expanding Fashion auctions in Japan.

What You’ll Do

  • Evaluate submissions: Review item descriptions, images, and details provided by sellers. Provide expert feedback and fair market value estimates.
  • Curate auctions: Approve and edit listings to create compelling weekly fashion auctions that attract enthusiastic bidders.
  • Build seller relationships: Engage with sellers in Japan, guiding them to create strong listings and ensuring a smooth selling experience.
  • Expand the market: Identify and onboard new high-quality sellers through your professional network, trade fairs, and fashion communities.
  • Ensure quality & compliance: Maintain Catawiki’s standards of transparency, authenticity, and trust across all listings.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally:

    • Support the Customer Service team with expert input in case of disputes.
    • Partner with Marketing and Sales to drive visibility and bidder engagement.
    • Contribute to strategies for growing Catawiki’s presence in the Japanese fashion market.

Who You Are

  • Deep knowledge of the Japanese and international fashion market, including brands, trends, and valuation - particularly within the bags category
  • Documented commercial / customer-facing experience in luxury fashion retail, appraisal, and curation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Native Japanese speaker with professional proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
  • Good computer skills are essential
  • The diplomatic competence needed to act as a mediator in disputes between users
  • Passion for connecting fashion enthusiasts and maintaining high-quality standards
