Tell us about your journey into the (male-dominated)  world of cycling?

I began cycling at the age of 11. Starting so young, I never saw the sport as strictly masculine – it shaped my perspective, allowing me to see beyond gender. My father was a tremendous support, the driving force behind my career. His encouragement inspired me to pursue cycling with determination and enthusiasm.
As I grew up, I focused on my goals rather than gender distinctions. While I recognize that cycling has traditionally been seen as a masculine sport, much has changed since 2019. Women are making significant strides in the cycling world, and their presence is stronger than ever.
Since joining Catawiki, I’ve encountered many people who are passionate about supporting women in cycling. It’s been incredibly rewarding to contribute to these positive changes and witness the growing inclusivity in the sport. I'm excited to be part of this ongoing transformation.

How did you land at Catawiki?

I decided that if at age 25, I was able to fully support myself as an athlete, then I’d continue as a professional. Otherwise, I would look for an alternative occupation while keeping cycling as a passion rather than a career. In that sense, Catawiki represents an opportunity to pursue my passion through my work.
After years in sales, I didn’t experience enthusiasm for my work anymore. Since joining Catawiki that’s all changed – I’ve joined a company that keeps me motivated.

Tell us more about your role as a cycling expert

My day-to-day tasks include selecting and reviewing sports memorabilia: everything that is connected to cycling (bicycles and bike parts, signed jerseys and accessories) but also equipment to practice other sports, analyzing them to evaluate their authenticity, and determining their market value.
Additionally, I organize auctions, research and find supply sources, and support establishing partnerships with leading sports organizations. I use my industry expertise to connect sports fans with the memorabilia they’re passionate about, bringing them closer to the moments they cherish.

What has your career up to now been like?

I cycled professionally for about 15 years, stopping in 2019 at 25 years old. I’m incredibly proud of my achievements within cycling and thoroughly enjoyed my career. It enabled me to travel through Italy by myself at the age of 13, and later through Europe and the world. There were many downsides, such as always being away from home for competitions and living in the cycling bubble. But it was worth it, I was able to live my dream.

What was the last thing you bought or bid on from Catawiki?

The last thing I bid on was a Chanel bag. I wanted to treat myself.

What are you most excited about or looking forward to?

I'm excited because I’m trusted at Catawiki – my ideas are given the opportunity to be developed.

What motivates you?

I live by the mantra 'once an athlete, always an athlete.' That competitive fire never fades. I'm relentless in the pursuit of my goals—no matter how long it takes. When I set my sights on something, nothing can stop me from achieving it.

Do you have any other passions besides cycling?

My other main passion is music. I love to sing and I hope to learn how to play guitar or piano – I just need to find the time. Plus, I'm a huge Swiftie! I've been lucky to go to two of her shows in Paris and Milan (this is actually how I spent my Catawiki day to pursue your passion) and I have tattoos related to her lyrics. I don't have a favourite song, because it's impossible to pick one, it very much depends on the mood. If I need a boost I'd probably go for her album Reputation, if it's a normal day I'd shuffle the entire discography. I once made an excel spreadsheet for a friend to explain why I can't choose one song!
