As an Expert at the Primary Market (Direct from the Artist) team, you will be closely involved with finding and onboarding new artists and screening the artworks from existing artists from your core market yet not limited to. You will as well publish auctions weekly. Using your contemporary art expertise and commercial skills, you will be responsible for making artists successful in their development at Catawiki.

Catawiki strives to keep user transactions as transparent and fair as possible, and your honesty and experience play a large part in maintaining this standard; you know better than anyone how exciting and important it is to support artists to sell their works in a dynamic,  transparent and trustworthy way.

You will find new sources of supply for the markets you will be focusing on and you will work closely with artists in those regions to support them growing their businesses at Catawiki. You will work with other Experts and the Sales team to identify, maximize and align on artists submissions and their sales. You will also be looking for growth opportunities in these markets, through potential partnerships.

What You’ll Do 

  • Find new supply sources & create Artists leads in the core markets, in line with our quality guidelines.
  • Onboarding of Artists through visiting them in their studios or fairs
  • Screen (approve or reject) artworks from these markets and support other Experts in their screening when required
  • Guide Artists in their performance at Catawiki: whether it is for existing artists to grow or new artists to scale up.
  • You will be monitoring performance of the Artists and the markets through dashboards, analysing data on excel sheets.

Who You Are 

  • You are an Curator/ Expert in Contemporary Art
  • Strong Sales negotiation skills
  • Artist management experience
  • Strong in analyzing data
  • Excellent English communication, and native in Spanish or French.
  • Additional language required: Spanish, French, Romanian or Dutch.
  • Team player and thrive in a diverse team environment
  • Great computer skills necessary
  • Responsible, good at coordinating and giving operation support
  • It will be highly valued previous experience in auction houses or online platforms.

The role is based in Spain or France with a fully remote work-from-home arrangement.

Our Offices and Way of Working

Our vibrant offices in Amsterdam, Paris and Lisbon are designed to inspire collaboration. Most Catawikians operate in a hybrid setup, combining office-based and remote work, with a minimum of two days per week in the office, unless a role is explicitly stated as fully remote or fully office-based.
