Expert Luxury Pens and Lighters

At Catawiki, every day brings the extraordinary! Whether it’s Daniel Ricciardo’s Formula 1 Car, a Woolly Mammoth’s Skeleton, Lady Gaga's Jumpsuit or Usain Bolt’s running shoe, we encounter exceptional objects every day.

We’re a one-of-a-kind marketplace for buying and selling special objects. Each week, more than 110,000 unique items are auctioned, all carefully curated by our passionate in-house experts.

Having sold over 25 million unique objects, our mission is to become the world’s most popular destination for special objects. As a growing, diverse and sustainable scale-up, we proudly live by three core values. If these values resonate with you, we’d love to explore how you can join us.

  • Taking ownership and driving impact
  • Being open to change and feedback
  • Being passionate about our mission and our customers.

About the role and team:

The Pens & Lighters category at Catawiki is run by a small, dedicated team of experts who manage the category end-to-end. As a team, we are responsible for the full auction lifecycle: from evaluating and curating lots to working closely with sellers and buyers, resolving disputes, expanding the seller network, and supporting marketing initiatives.

As an Expert Luxury Pens and Lighters, you will take ownership of your own auctions, working closely with fellow category experts to ensure high-quality, engaging weekly auctions. While your core focus is on your specialist knowledge, the role is broad and varied, combining content, commercial responsibility, and stakeholder interaction.

This is a part-time position of 0.6 FTE, equivalent to 24 hours per week.

What you’ll do:
  • Curate and manage your own dedicated writing instruments auctions
  • Evaluate lots for quality, authenticity, and market relevance
  • Communicate with sellers and buyers, including handling questions and disputes
  • Actively grow the number of lots and sellers in your category
  • Improve and manage key performance indicators for your auctions
  • Contribute to seller activation, brand growth, and marketing initiatives
How you work:
The work of an expert is continuous, as sellers submit lots throughout the day. At the same time, working hours are flexible and can be agreed upon with your manager, allowing you to balance autonomy with team collaboration.

What you'll bring:
  • You have strong knowledge of writing instruments, combined with the ability and willingness to continue learning on the job
  • You have a commercial mindset and enjoy growing auctions, sellers, and results
  • You work accurately and independently, while collaborating well within a small expert team
  • You communicate clearly and professionally with sellers, buyers, and internal stakeholders
  • You are comfortable making decisions and taking ownership of your auctions
  • You are flexible and organised, able to manage a continuous flow of incoming lots
  • You are comfortable leveraging an existing network of sellers, collectors, or industry experts

Where you'll be:

The role is based in Europe with a work-from-home arrangement.
